CRPF officer laid to rest

With solemn tributes, the mortal remains of Maharambam Prabo Singh, the second-in-command of the 26th Battalion of CRPF, were laid to rest with full honors at his native village at Awang Sekmai Mayai Leikai today.
Killed in a lightning strike during an anti-Maoist operation in Jharkhand, Prabo Singh (47) is survived by his wife and two sons aged 14 and 5.Prior to the last rites, his body was brought to Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, where a wreath laying ceremony was organised in his honour by CRPF Group Centre, Imphal.
Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Khurai AC MLA L Susindro, ADG NE Zone of CRPF Raja Srivastava, IG of CRPF Group Centre, Imphal Rajendra Narayan Dash and top brass of RAF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police paid their respect to the deceased CRPF officer at the airport.
Speaking to the media, Prabo's elder brother, Maharambam Ranjen expressed pride in his brother's sacrifice for the Nation but also voiced deep sorrow over his untimely passing.
Ranjen said his younger brother was hardworking, honest, and obedient and had established a school in their mothers' name.
R Duidang, DIG of CRPF Group Centre, Imphal, said that Prabo joined CRPF as an Assistant Commandant in 2006 .
Prabo was a calm and dedicated officer, Duidang said.
From airport, the mortal remains of Prabo were escorted by CRPF personnel to Awang Sekmai.
A gun salute was given in his honour during the funeral.
