Vandalised at Mahadeva area

Ukhrul, May 16 2025: The foundation stone of the proposed "Wung Vei" town in Mahadev area of Ukhrul district was vandalized by unknown miscreants at midnight on Thursday, the same day the foundation stone was unveiled.

The foundation stone was unveiled on May 15 by Tangkhul Naga Long president Sword Vashum in the presence of Tangkhul Frontal Organisations leaders, namely, TMNL president Ringphapam Kasar, TSL president Thingreiphy Lungharwo, TKS president Ramreichan Keishing, Tangkhul Naga Awung Long (TNAL) president Tannyson Kashung, Tangkhul Naga Zingtun Long (TNZL) chairman Ipchan Khapai, Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNZL) chairman AS Nathan, Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNAL) representative Augustin Kashung, Tangkhul Naga Ato Longphang (TNAL) chairman Wungpam Shimray, Thawai village headman Wungnaoyung Ngalung, TANFO president Turner Raihing and WTSC convener Mahirah.

According to Litan police, the foundation stone, erected near the watch tower along the Imphal-Ukhrul Highway in Mahadev area, was found partially destroyed by unknown persons last night.

A police team rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary preliminary investigation.

However, the details of the incident were yet to be ascertained till the time of filing this report.

A case was registered at Litan police station in this connection.

It might be mentioned that the proposed Wung Vei town is located along the Imphal-Ukhrul highway.
