Suspected Kuki militants remanded to NIA custody

Imphal, July 13 2024:
Three suspected Kuki militants who were arrested by NIA Branch Office Imphal on July 9 after a brief encounter from L Hengjol village have been remanded to NIA custody till July 16 .
L Hengjol village is located in Kangpokpi district under New Keithelmanbi police station.
The alleged accused persons identified as Thangjoel Haokip alias Thangboi (19) s/o Ngamkholun Haokip of Ghamphajang village, Churachandpur, Jangoulen Khongsai alias Goulen Khongsai (19) s/o Songhen Khongsai of Veitumkholen village near Kotlen Army camp, staying at Old Gelmol, Churachandpur at present and Jangminlun Singson alias Franky (45) of Bethel village, Churachandpur were arrested by NIA with the assistance of Assam Rifles, CRPF and Kangpokpi district police along with arms, ammunition and other incriminating items from the residence of L Hengjol village chief Thonghen Haokip on July 9 morning.
Soon after their arrest, all three of them were taken inside a military camp before they were airlifted to New Delhi from Tulihal International Airport in an Indian Air Force plane on the same day.
They were produced before a Court in New Delhi and the Court remanded them to NIA custody till July 16 .
