Cops crack down on tinted glass

Enforcing the Supreme Court directive against use of tinted glass in vehicles, teams of Manipur police today carried out specific drive and removed tinted-sheets/films at different locations of the capital city.
Traffic Police teams as well as personnel of City Police, Imphal and Lamphel police stations halted vehicles with tinted glass and asked the owners to remove the tinted-sheets.
today's drive lasted from around 10.30 am till 5 pm.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Officer in-charge of City Police station RK Tejbir informed that traffic and police personnel were deployed at BT Road near Shahid Minar, Tera Keithel and Kwakeithel police out-post for the specific drive.
Referring to the Supreme Court decree against tinted-glass in vehicles, he stated that the apex Court ruling is to prevent crimes committed by anti-social elements who prefer vehicles with tinted glass.
Tejbir also informed that vehicle owners were fined Rs 100 each for defying the Supreme Court ruling.
The day's total collection is said to be about Rs 7000.
