Delhi backing Kuki-Zo aggression : AMUCO

Imphal, September 02 2024: Categorically stating that the Kuki-Zo militants have been waging a war against Manipur with the sanction of the Government of India and its paramilitary forces, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has come down heavily on the Government of India, paramilitary forces and the State Government.

Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office today, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang pointed out that Central security forces are present in all the areas where Kuki-Zo militants attack the indigenous people but they (Central security forces) have been only acting as mute spectators.

He asserted that Ministers/MLAs have no moral right to enjoy the comfort and luxury of air-conditioned rooms when the citizens are shedding tears and blood, and the Government is unable to protect the life and properties of the citizens.

He said that the AMUCO strongly condemns the aerial bombardment of Meitei settlements by Kuki-Zo militants using sophisticated drones.

The way the Government of India has been handling the violence in Manipur has crossed the people's tolerance limits.

The people of Manipur vehemently condemn the partisan attitude of the Central security forces and their acts of openly favouring one side in the course of the protracted violence, the AMUCO president stated.

It was only after Kuki-Zo militants, armed with sophisticated weapons, launched a sustained war against the indigenous people of Manipur that civilians took up arms to defend the State and her people, he said.

Even though Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh was sent by the Government of India purportedly to contain the Manipur violence, he has not done anything concrete to stop the violence so far, Nando Luwang said.

After a brief lull, Kuki-Zo militants introduced a new warfare on September 1, 2024 by bombing Koutruk using sophisticated drones in which a young woman was killed while many including the woman's minor daughter, a journalist and many people sustained injuries.

The renewed offensive of the Kuki-Zo militants is not limited to Koutruk.

They have been shelling and firing at several Meitei villages in peripheral areas since yesterday and the attack went on till today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proud claim that Manipur is slowly returning to normalcy and the Government of India has initiated several steps to restore peace has turned out to be a big lie or rather the Prime Minister's statement has been deliberately falsified by Kuki-Zo militants.

Apart from Kuki-Zo militants, a large number of Kuki-Zo mercenaries working under the command of the Indian Army have joined the Kuki-Zo aggression, the AMUCO president alleged.

He asserted that the prolonged unrest in Manipur was engineered by the Government of India with a secret agenda.

Their secret agenda is to finish off the revolutionary groups fighting for independence of Manipur together with all the indigenous communities of the State, he alleged.

AMUCO would like to appeal to the Government of India not to mix up its secret agenda with the ongoing aggression of the Kuki-Zo militants, he said.

Whereas combing operations are carried out every day in the valley, many village volunteers arrested and arms seized, security forces have been carrying search operations in hill areas inhabited by Kukis only for name's sake and the seizures made from these areas are restricted to a few archaic and local made guns, he pointed out.

Of the total number of weapons recovered by security forces from different areas of Manipur so far, 3/4th comes from the valley.

Even the State forces are not acting uniformly.

State security personnel deployed in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi cannot do anything but their colleagues deployed in the valley have been acting smart and actively seizing weapons from village volunteers, he remarked.

The brave State security personnel already decorated with gallantry awards could not do anything at Koutruk on Sunday.

So far, the State security personnel are yet to show their bravery in the face of the Kuki-Zo aggression, he said.

Many village volunteers have already laid down their lives for the sake of the motherland while many others have been maimed for life, he said.

Ministers, MLAs and the State security personnel must understand that the situation is becoming more and more critical and the fire of revenge is growing stronger and stronger, he said.

If the people's fury goes out of control, many untoward incidents may unfold, the AMUCO president warned.

He then urged the Ministers/MLAs to go to peripheral areas and join the service of defending the motherland.

Nando Luwang further asked the politicians to come out of the illusion that the situation will return to normalcy after some months.

Pointing out that the Kuki-Zo militants can strike anywhere, any time of their choosing, he questioned the meaning of having a Government.

Turning to Ministers and MLAs, he asked if they don't feel any shame for their abject failure to protect the life and properties of citizens.

The State Government and the Manipur Police must understand that the Kuki-Zo aggression is a direct challenge to all of them.

The Security Advisor and the DGP must authorise the police personnel to respond to the Kuki-Zo militants' attack in befitting manners.

If Kuldiep Singh does not know or do his duty, he has no right to occupy the seat of Security Advisor, he asserted.

At the same time, the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers must take a firm resolution and show they would not tolerate the aerial bombing carried out by the Kuki-Zo militants, Nando Luwang continued.

Pointing out that the term of the SoO agreement expired on February 29, 2024, he asked why the Government of India has not been seizing weapons from Kuki-Zo militants even after they launched a series of deadly attacks against unarmed civilians.

He went on to ask if the Central security forces will remain silent if village volunteers bomb Kuki-Zo people just like Kuki-Zo militants did at Koutruk on September 1, 2024 .

The sustained and widespread violence unleashed by Kukis in Manipur is designed and sponsored by India, he alleged before calling upon all the people to come out to streets and launch a strong agitation to protect village volunteers and keep away Central security forces.

AMUCO is fully prepared to launch such a strong agitation, Nando said.

He further called upon all the Meira Paibis, clubs and organisations to take the responsibility of protecting village volunteers and pledge collectively that no village volunteer should be arrested by security forces.

"It's time to fight back the Government of India's policy of keeping our hands tied while giving a free hand to the Kuki-Zo militants", said the AMUCO president.

The Government of India knows exactly who started the war, who are guilty and who are innocent, he said before asking New Delhi to take concrete actions against the aggressors immediately.
