Man held with peacock feathers

Imphal, May 18 2025:
Manipur police on Saturday arrested a man, who was trying to smuggle peacock feathers worth Rs 37 lakh to Myanmar without relevant documents.
The arrested person has been identified as Md Sharifuddin (24) of Moreh Ward no 5 Muslim Nagar Laibuk Leikai.
According to a release issued by Manipur Police Control Room, Sharifuddin was arrested from near Pallel police station gate.

He tried to smuggle peacock feathers to Myanmar without possessing necessary documents.
In all, 18 bundles of peacock feathers packed in four bags, weighing 142 kg and valued at approximately Rs 37 lakh in the international market, were seized.
The four-wheeler used to transport the feathers has been taken into custody by the police.
