Assessment camp for CWSN held

A medical assessment camp for children with special needs (CWSN) was jointly organised by IED and IEDSS of Samagra Shiksha, DPO/ZEO, Zone-III, Thoubal in association with RBSK, District Health Department, Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO at Khangabok Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.
The event was part of a "Week-long Mega Identification, Assessment, and Distribution Camp for Aids and Assistive Devices" being held across the state for CWSN students from pre-primary to Class XII.
The camp is being organised by Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam under Samagra Shiksha, Manipur, to mark the 5th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 .
The programme was attended by Zone-III Thoubal ZEO Y Achouba Singh, programme officer (RTE) P Sukumar, DI in-charge N Rajen, RTE resource persons A Surjit Meitei and S Sanjoy and staff of IED and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, P Sukumar explained that screenings for visual impairment, hearing impairment, cerebral palsy, orthopaedic impairment, and intellectual disabilities are being conducted to identify children with special needs (CWSN).
The identification and assessment of several children are currently underway, and those identified will be formally registered, he said.
During the programme, various aids and assistive devices were distributed to 33 registered CWSN students.
