Imphal, July 28 2025: Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal organised a tree plantation programme under the theme "Go Green Manipur" with the slogan "Save Pony, Save Polo" on Sunday at Manipur Pony Breeding Farm, Lamphelpat.

The plantation programme was taken up as part of a proj ect to combat climate change and conserve the endangered Manipuri Pony.

Attending the event, president Dr RK Ratankumar highlighted that the club has been consistently taking up environment-related projects across the state for many years in addition to rendering humanitarian services.

He said that the site for the project was chosen to provide natural shelter to ponies and promote biodiversity by planting fruit-bearing trees that may attract indigenous and exotic birds, thereby fostering a natural habitat.

The initiative aims to save the earth and all its dependents including humans, ponies and birds," he added.

Over 200 saplings were planted by members of the club and the Polo Association, while an additional 100 saplings were handed over to the public for plantation in suitable areas.

The programme was also attended by club secretary Indrakumar Singh, active members of the club and representatives from Manipur Horse Riding Association.
