VDFs suspend stir for two months

Imphal, May 18 2025:
Following the assurance given by the state government, Central Committee of All Manipur VDF Employees' Welfare Association (AMVBFEWA) has decided to suspend the indefinite gun down and pen down strike for two months.
As per a statement by AMVDFEWA general secretary (adm) Md Idrish Shah issued Saturday, a team of Central Committee leaders met with the commissioner (home) and SPs of Imphal West, East and Kangpokpi at the commissioner's office on Saturday.
The state government has assured the Committee that it will address the grievances of VDF personnel within specific timeline.
The demands include - implementation of Section 18 of the Police Act, 1861, increment of honorarium and regularisation of service, it informed.
The Association has agreed to suspend the strike for two months, pending fulfilment of these assurances, while adding, "We expect the state government to, honour its commitments and address our long-standing demands" .
