Ajit appointed Deputy Director under labour ministry

Imphal, July 04 2025:
Ningthoujam Ajit Singh, a native of Khangabok Khullakpam Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district, has been selected for the post of Deputy Director of Employment in the Directorate General of Employment under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The post is being filled through a competitive selection process conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) .
N Ajit is currently serving as research officer (Planning) at the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong.
This marks his second UPSC selection having previously joined as economic officer in the Office of the Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2014, before his stint in the NEC in 2017 .
An alumnus of Brighter Academy and DM College of Arts, he completed his MA and MPhil in Economics from Manipur University.
His MPhil dissertation focused on the 2008 international financial crisis and its impact on India.
A recipient of the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, he also excelled in numerous literary and academic competitions, winning over 120 prizes during, his student years.
Ajit began his professional career in 2010 after recruitment by the Staff Selection Commission.
He was posted at the Directorate of Census Operations, Mizoram, where he played a key role in the 2011 Census and was awarded the President's Silver Medal for his contributions.
