AR pays tributes to martyr

Imphal, June 27 2025:
A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was conducted by Assam Rifles on Friday at the Mantripukhri Garrison to honour the valour and sacrifice of rifleman (general duty) HK Kuki, who laid down his life in the line of duty during a road opening operation from Khonsa to Ngoithong.
In a release, PRO IGAR (South) recalled that on June 27, 1963, while moving from Khonsa to Ngoithong, the road opening party came under intense fire around 10.30 am near Ngoithong.
In the ensuing exchange of fire with unidentified insurgents, rifleman HK Kuki sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries, making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
The ceremony began with the senior officials laying the wreath, followed by address recounting the courage and dedication of the brave-heart.
The address inspired pride and honour among all ranks, said the PRO, adding that over 100 personnel of the garrison participated in the tribute, laying wreaths and presenting a guard of honour in remembrance of the fallen hero.
