CCpur IDPs seek land, livelihood support

Bishnupur, April 21 2025:
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Churachandpur, currently sheltered at 43 locations following the ethnic violence on May 3, 2023, have submitted a memorandum to the Governor, the Chief Secretary and the DC concerned urging for immediate intervention and temporary allocation of agricultural lands to the displaced families in Phougakchao Ikhai area until the crisis is resolved.
The memorandum was submitted by representatives of Churachandpur Meitei United Committee, Meitei Society Churachandpur, Churachandpur Meitei Ethnic Clash Victims Committee, Ima Leimarel and Nupi Samaj on Monday.
Speaking to media persons after submitting the memorandum, Churachandpur Meitei United Committee co-convenor Naba Ningthoujam informed that IDPs have been living in relief camps for nearly two years without government support in terms of employment or livelihood, and urged the allocation of at least 0.04 acres of land per displaced family in Phougakchao Ikhai area near Churachandpur pending an amicable solution to the crisis.
