80th Hiroshima Day observed

Imphal, August 06 2025:
In solidarity with victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, the Indo-Japan Friendship Association, Manipur (1J-FAM) observed the 80th Hiroshima Day at the Manipur Press Club on Wednesday.
The solemn event was attended by Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha, IJFAM vice president Ningthoujam Kumar Meetei and retired IPS officer Sarangthem Manaobi (Khoiranthaba) as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively while Rajeshwar Yumnam was present as special guest.

As part of the observance, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims of the atomic bombings and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the integrity of Manipur.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ibomcha reflected on the catastrophic consequences of nuclear warfare and pointed out the urgent need for global nuclear disarmament and peaceful coexistence.
He also lauded IJFAM's continued efforts in promoting cultural ties and fostering people-to-people relations between Manipur and Japan.
