AR honours brave-heart captain

Assam Rifles on Thursday organised a wreath laying ceremony in honour Of captain Allahnoor Kathat, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous), who made the ultimate sacrifice, displaying unwavering courage and dedication to duty despite facing overwhelming odds in a counter insurgency operation in Sateek, Aizawl district, Mizoram.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on July 3, 1967, a team under the command of captain Allahnoor Kathat was leading the operation in Sialsuk area following information about hiding MNF cadres.
The MNF insurgents ambushed the team, resulting in retaliatory fire during which one MNF cadre was slain, another wounded and huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the insurgents.
Captain Allahnoor, disregarding personal safety, bravely neutralised the insurgent and ensured safety of own troops.
During the operation, he was wounded and made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
For his immense bravery and sacrifice, captain Allahnoor Kathat was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, the PRO informed.
Over 120 Assam Rifles personnel paid rich tributes by laying wreaths and honouring the martyr with guard of honour, the PRO added.
