Public pool money to repair Kakching-Irengband road

Kakching, June 29 2025: In view of the deplorable condition of the Kakching Khunyai Leikai to Irengband road, which has been neglected by government for many years, locals of the area pooled in money and laid brick fragments to start repairing of the said road on Sunday.

Speaking to media persons in connection with the road repair, Kakching Popular Sporting Club (KPSC), Khunyai Leikai general secretary M Maniyaima informed that the road stretch has been in a pitiable shape with the recent incessant rainfall making the condition even worse.

Decrying inaction and repeated excuses by authority concerned to their appeals for repairing the road, he said the aggrieved locals made monetary contributions, including substantial donation by MMS Genius Academy, and JRD Pathseekers' Academy, Kakching, to take up repair of the road instead of waiting for the government.

It is said that Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar had announced that the road will be repaired under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), but so far there has no initiation for the said work.

Due to prolonged non repairing of the road, the MLA had in June last year levelled the road and had laid stone pebbles from own source only for the recent rains to worsen condition of the road.
