Lions Club holds tree plantation programme

Imphal, July 28 2025: Lions Club of Imphal Excellence organised a tree plantation programme on Sunday at Nepali Basti, Pangei in Imphal East as part of its service activity to protect the environment.

Club members assisted by planted 50 fruit-bearing trees, while another 50 trees were distributed to volunteers and local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, club president Rakeshbanta Konjengbam emphasised the importance of 'Lionism' and the spirit of collective efforts to achieve common goals.

He said that lions clubs across the globe observe the month of July by planting trees.

Divisional forest officer Dr L Jeeceelee shared details of the different fruit trees planted and their suitability to the climatic conditions of the state.

She also highlighted the programme's connection to the government's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative, which symbolises respect and dedication towards the motherland and nature.

The event was attended by club members and volunteers.
