AR aids conduct of tournament

Imphal, June 27 2025:
Responding to a formal request from the Moreh Youth Club (MYC), Assam Rifles extended logistical assistance to ensure successful conduct of volleyball and sepak takraw tournament held from June 17 to 20 at Moreh in Tengnoupal district.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the event was conducted under the inspiring theme 'Beat Drugs with Sports', reinforcing ongoing efforts to encourage youth participation and promote communal harmony in the region.
The tournament, originally launched in 2012 has long served as a meaningful platform for nurturing unity and brotherhood through sports.
This year's edition witnessed spirited participation from 16 teams including 10 women and 6 men's teams drawing an enthusiastic crowd and strong community involvement, the PRO conveyed.
In the men's volleyball, D Monnaphai A team emerged victorious over Leisan A team, with Sangboi Vaiphei (D Monnaphai) earning the best player award and Songminlen Vaiphei (Leisan) named the best spiker.
In the women's final, Zion Veng Youth Club triumphed over Ngaltun Team.
Elina Ngaihoihuam Phiamphu (Zion Veng) was adjudged best player, while Lamlungdei Boicy (Ngaltun) received the emerging player recognition.
In sepak takraw, Achin Team clinched the title by defeating Maojang Youth Club, with Jau Da (Achin) honoured as best player.
Senior officials from Assam Rifles distributed trophies and medals to the winners, congratulated the players, applauded MYC's efforts in reviving the tournament and reiterated commitment of Assam Rifles in supporting youth development, peace building, and anti-drug initiatives in the region, the PRO stated.
