AR initiates plantation drive, extends aid

Assam Rifles conducted a tree plantation drive at TM Zoumunnum village on Monday with the aim to foster afforestation, restore degraded green spaces and raise environmental awareness among the local population, with special focus on the youth.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the drive emphasising the importance of civic responsibility and collective effort in safeguarding natural resources generated healthy response with the enthusiastic participation of 25 residents, including children in plantation activities.
Over 100 saplings of indigenous tree species carefully chosen for their suitability to the local environment and their potential to provide lasting ecological benefits were planted during the joint drive.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles distributed food' items comprising groceries packaged foods and biscuits to Stanley Kids Boarding Orphanage at Sorde village in Kamjong district on Monday.
The initiative sought to provide essential support to the underprivileged children of the boarding home by offering wholesome and nutritious food to aid their healthy growth, the PRO stated, adding that the event organised in close Collaboration with local village leaders and the orphanage authorities was warmly received by the 25 children residing at the boarding home.
The local community praised the efforts of Assam Rifles and expressed their gratitude for the noble gesture which greatly contributes to the welfare of the disadvantaged children, according to the PRO .
