BMC casual staffers stage sit-in protest

Bishnupur, July 03 2025: A sit-in protest was staged at Bishnupur Municipal Council (BMC) complex on Thursday by casual employees and pensioners engaged by the BMC, demanding release of their wages unpaid for 12 months.

Speaking to media persons in connection with the protest, BMC Unapproved Staff Association president N Jayanta Singh decried indifference of the BMC authorities to suffering of the casual employees.

He also appealed for release of the pending salaries at the earliest along with urging the government to implement the increased minimum wages for labour.

Mentioning that they will submit a memorandum to the authority concerned, Jayanta cautioned that if the wages are not paid within short notice they will resort to agitation.
