Trucks seized over illegal soil mining

Kakching, July 19 2025:
Staff of Kakching Forest Range seized three 407 Tata trucks that were caught mining and transporting soil from nearby hills illegally.
According to a report from the forest department, amid ongoing drives against illegal mining and transportation of hill soil, a team from the Range Forest Office Kakching and Beat Office Pallel caught the three trucks, bearing registration numbers MN 01AA-4929, MN 01AA-4931, and one unregistered, while they were passing in front of the Kakching Range Office.
As per the drivers of the trucks, the soil was mined from Khangshim village area.
In this regard, an official from the forest department stated that it is unfortunate such illegal activities are taking place despite the prohibition imposed by the Manipur High Court.
The official cautioned that anyone found mining or transporting mountain soil illegally will be liable for legal action.
