AR holds ESM meet, pays tribute to martyrs

Senapati, June 30 2025:
Assam Rifles organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) meet at Mao, Senapati district on Monday, participated by 68 ESM and 8 Veer Naris/war widows from Mao and surrounding areas.
Mao COB company commander addressed the gathering, highlighting various welfare schemes and policies of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Defence (MoD) aimed at supporting veterans and their families.
Information was also shared on scholarship schemes for the wards of ESMs, healthcare initiatives, and pension-related matters.
The attendees appreciated the functioning of the CSD Extension Counter at Mao COB, which caters to over 150 ex-servicemen across 12 villages in Mao and Tadubi sub-divisions.
Meanwhile, a wreath laying ceremony was conducted at Assam Rifles War Memorial, Maram on Monday to honour the supreme sacrifice of havildar (GD) Biplab Kumar Bose, and riflemen (GD) Ram Bahadur Thapa, Ram Krishna Punera, Pravin Kumar Sharma, Kashi Nath Singh and Amarjit Singh who laid down their lives while combating insurgents on this day in 1997 at Peren, Nagaland.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of all ranks remembering the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers.
A one minute's silence was also observed during the ceremony.
