WED: Saplings planted; plastic hottie banks presented

Imphal, June 27 2025:
District Health Society (DHS), Imphal West National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) in collaboration with Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) observed World Environment Day (WED) under the theme 'Beat the plastic pollution at Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband on Thursday.
The programme was attended by NPCCHH state nodal officer Dr Y Niveda as chief guest, Imphal West chief medical officer Dr Ng Dayabati as president and TUC advisor Th Robin as guest of honour.
As part of the programme, tree saplings were planted and plastic bottle banks handed over to TUC, Singjamei Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) and Langol Tarung UPHC.
Meanwhile, United Proto Indigenous People of Manipur, Thongju Part-II concluded observance of the World Environment Day, 2025 by planting 100 'Uningthou' saplings at the foothills of Langthabal Konung, the old palace at Canchipur, on Friday.
A release issued by The United Proto Indigenous People of Manipur, informed that the earlier event was scheduled for June 5 but deferred due to inclement weather.
It expressed gratitude to Thongju MLA Thongam Biswajit Singh, Manipur Archaeology and Directorate of Environment & Climate Change for contributing towards successful conduct of the plantation drive.
