MEELAL commemorates MM Implementation Day

Imphal, May 18 2025: Meetei Erol Eyek Loi-nasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) commemorated Meetei Mayek (MM) Implementation Day at its head office on Sunday with HERICOUN vice president Kongkham Kiran as chief guest, MEELAL president Khaidem Ingocha as president and vice president Oinam Keinahanbi as guest of honour.

A one minute's silence was observed as a mark of respect to departed members of the Lup, who played vital roles in the implementation of Meetei Mayek, and also to those who laid their lives for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Floral tributes were also paid to the photo of MEELAL founding president Chingsubam Akaba.

Speaking on the occasion, incumbent president Ingo-cha highlighted the activities taken up by the Lup for promotion of language and script of Manipur.

He reminded that over 500 individuals were imprisoned during the movement for the implementation of Meetei Mayek.

Since its implementation in 2006, Meetei Mayek has been making steady progress as is evident from the same taught and studied at the PhD level.

He called on all to support MEELAL's initiatives for the preservation and promotion of Meetei Mayek.
