Assam Rifles hosts "A Day with Company Commander" to strengthen community bonds in Sehlon village

Imphal, July 20 2025: Furthering its steadfast commitment to civic outreach, Assam Rifles organised "A Day with Company Commander" at Sehlon village, Chandel District.

According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the initiative was designed to deepen ties with the local community and provide opportunities for meaningful dialogue, educational advancement and recreational enjoyment.

The event was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, attracting 139 villagers, including a significant number of youth, children and women.

The day's programme comprised an array of purposeful sessions and lively activities tailored to benefit all sections of the community.

Proceedings began with a comprehensive Career Counselling lecture for local youth, offering guidance on academic pathways, employment prospects and options for joining the armed forces.

This was followed by an instructive session on hygiene and sanitation, specifically addressing the needs of women.

Children were treated to an engaging lineup of activities and competitions, including drawing, Bible reading and cultural dance, ensuring a joyful and memorable experience.

Underscoring the value of sport in promoting good health and unity, the event featured keenly contested competitions, such as a volleyball match between Riflewomen and local female teams, as well as a football match pitting Assam Rifles troops against village youth.

These sporting fixtures generated spirited participation and showcased remarkable camaraderie and talent.

A highlight of the evening was a movie screening, enjoyed by villagers of all ages, which helped conclude the day on an entertaining and communal note.

The event was warmly received, with villagers expressing sincere gratitude to Assam Rifles for bringing the community together in such a joyous and harmonious setting.
