International Museum Day observed

Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives observed the International Museum Day at the museum of Old Assembly building, here, on Sunday.
The event was organised under the theme 'The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities'.
Speaking on the occasion, Manipur Legislative Assembly joint director L Bimol highlighted the role of the museum in making and archiving the political history of the state.
He said that the day is observed every year on May 18 to understand the significance of museum in the society after International Council of Museum-adopted the day in 1977 .
Museums are platforms for cultural exchange, cultural diversity, and they play innovative and motivational roles in nurturing younger generations.
It was in this idea that the Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives was established in 2018.After shifting the state assembly to its new location, the old complex is now being preserved as a heritage for the state that can bring unity and cultural harmony among the people of the state, he added.
Manipur College assistant professor Thongbam Nanjest, Manipur Legislative Assembly deputy secretary Y Brajakumar, and joint director A Sachi also attended the observance as dignitaries on the dais.
