Speaking during the event, MACA chairman Angam Anal highlighted the shared responsibilities in preserving the Chakpi River.
"The Chakpi River does not belong to any single community.
Around 50 villages in Chandel depend on this river for their daily needs," he stated.
The chairman also urged residents not to construct pigsties along the river bank or dump waste in the river, as such activities risk polluting the vital water source.
Chandel SDO Naorem Pritam, Chandel police station OC Chongtham Sanjoy and Chandel DFO Naorem Munal Meitei also participated in the cleanliness drive.
