Fishers educated on central schemes

Imphal, July 25 2025:
A one-day district level awareness programme on various central government schemes aimed at uplifting fishers was held on Friday at Hotel Imphal, with participation of around 30 fishers from Imphal East district.
The programme was jointly organised by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and Laxman Rao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development, Regional Training Centre, Guwahati.
NCDC Regional Office, Guwahati deputy director Jagadeshwar Rao said that the objective of the programme was to provide fishers with comprehensive information about government schemes designed to'improve their livelihoods and quality of life.
He said that the awareness session will focus primarily on key initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund, and Livelihood and Income for Fisherman in Communities scheme.
Experts conducted detailed sessions to familiarise the fishers with the benefits, application procedures, and implementation mechanisms of these schemes.
