Evacuation of stranded people continues

Imphal, May 12 2023:
A total of 346 people, who have been left stranded in Jiribam due to the violent clash, arrived here along NH 37 under heavy security cover on Wednesday.
Police source said that the joint security team of Noney district police, 10 Assam Rifles and CRPF led by SP Noney Modhunimai escorted the 346 stranded people along with 24 vehicles including 13 goods laden trucks.
Mention may be made that 534 persons along with 109 vehicles were also escorted till Imphal by security force on May 8 and 9.Meanwhile, PRO IGAR (S) informed that Assam Ri-fles units of 26 Sector acted quickly to bring the securi-ty situation in Tengnoupal and Chandel districts under control and once a reason-ably safe security situation was achieved, the AR ferried thousands of stranded peo-ple, under protection, both from Imphal to Moreh and vice versa.
In a release, the PRO IGAR (S) said safe transportation of stranded people to their fam-ilies will bring down anxiety uncertainty and angst among people and lead to reduction in rumours and tension, and directly contribute to peace and stability.
The relief camp at Moreh is accommodating and feeding in excess of 3500 persons, with another relief camp at Bongmol providing for 750 people and the transit facil-ity at Pallel providing food, medical care and tranship-ment facility to more than 1000 persons daily to people of all communities.
The release continued that sustained peace over the next few days will lay the grounds for initiation of rehabilitation process by the state of earnest.
The successful facilitation of the safe passage of stranded civilians was made possible through the tireless efforts of the Assam Rifles personnel.
Assam Rifles also urged all communities to work together to build a peaceful and pros-perous Manipur.
1GAR (South) also facilitated evacuation of the stranded people who were staying at IGAR (South) based Mantri-pukhri relief camp on Thursday.
A total of 14 vehicles with 246 people were safely es-corted to different parts of Churachandpur and Kang-pokpi while simultaneously relocating people in different parts of Imphal city.
