Bishnupur, August 11 2025: World No Tobacco Day 2025 organised by NCD Cell and District Health Society, Bishnupur was observed at Kumbi Shandhong Upper Primary School, on Monday.

Held under the theme "Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products", the observance was attended by Bishnupur CMO Dr L Raichandra Singh, NTCP, Bishnupur district nodal officer Dr Moirangthem Johnson Singh and School headmaster Kh Indrakumar as the presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Raichandra said the event was aimed at raising awareness among students and youth about the dangers of drugs and motivate them to abstain from drugs, tobacco and nicotine products, promoting a healthy life for the betterment of society.

He urged students to avoid nicotine products and highlighted the legal prohibition on selling tobacco products near school premises, warning that violators could face heavy fines under the law.

NTCP, Bishnupur DNO Dr Moirangthem Johnson Singh, who was also present on the occasion, informed that preparations are underway to declare "No Tobacco Zones" at the village level.
