Senapati, August 06 2025: The 3rd Annual Cultural & Literary Meet of Greenwood School, Christian Colony, Senapati, themed "A Journey Through Time" was inaugurated by 16 Assam Rifles commanding officer Col Sandeep Sharma.

In his address, Col Sandeep praised the children's performances, noting that the young ones perform with their hearts rather than their minds, displaying positivity, energy, and calmness, which reflects their inner strength.

He urged parents and elders to take responsibility for nurturing the children, as they are the future, while stressing the importance of guiding them on the right path, providing good edu cation, and equipping them to face life's challenges.

The officer added that these children will not only care for their parents but will also contribute to society, the community, the state, and the nation.

The moral values and ethics imparted by elders and teachers at this stage are crucial, as they will shape the children's lives and determine the future in 20-30 years, he said.

As special guest of the event, Levi Pou commended the Assam Rifles for then-tireless efforts in ensuring national and regional secu rity.

He remarked that every great journey begins with a single step and expressed hope that the school would achieve greatness in the near future.

Delivering the welcome address, headmistress Dr Alice Honghurila, shared that the school was established in 2023 with the motto, "Love Towards Humanity" - a phrase inspired by her late mother, who had dreamt of building an educational institute but passed away before fulfilling her vision.

She urged the gathering to plant the seeds of the society they wish to see when these children grow up - a society free from corruption, filled with peace, love, and mutual respect.

"The school aims to mould young lives so that they embody these ideals.

The seeds sown today will bear fruit in the future, and this event was organised to ensure that, beyond academic knowledge, the children develop into compassionate, successful individuals who can contribute to a corruption-free society," said the headmistress.

The school currently has 70 students and 8 staff members, offering classes from Playgroup, Preparatory, Lower Kindergarten, Up per Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2.It is situated in Christian Colony, Makhrelui, Senapati.

The event featured rendition of the National Anthem, dance performances, and plays by the students, including one addressing the issue of excessive mobile phone use among children.
