Imphal, August 05 2025:
United Naga Council (UNC) has warned 'one' Ashang Kasar, accusing the latter of undermining the 'notice of stricture' issued by the apex Naga body few days ago on the issue of an event slated for August 9 .
On July 30, 'notice of stricture' served by the UNC had asked "all members of the Naga community (under its jurisdiction) to refrain from participating in International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples by
un-mandated organisation in the name of Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur, on August 9, 2025, at City Convention, Palace Compound, Imphal" .
The UNC said that due to numerous reasons, factors and complexities, given the prevailing dynamics and situations Nagas under its jurisdiction should not participate in the said event.
The UNC further said that it functions and acts with visions.
"What is detrimental for us and what is not cannot be always spelt out in the media.
We don't dictate.
The UNC works and functions with the Naga political movement as the guiding parameter.
If any Naga attempts to banalise the Naga political issue and situation, or challenges the Nagas, then such a person is deemed fit to be dealt with befitting actions," said the UNC .
The UNC then reiterated that Nagas under its jurisdiction to refrain from participating in the August 9 event.
