Riot-hit people stuck in Kangpokpi reach CCpur

About 1000 den-izens of Churachandpur district who were being sheltered at relief camps in Kangpokpi were brought home on Thursday.
Efforts are also on to send affected people of Kang-pokpi who are stranded in Churachandpur district as the district adminis-tration continues to work for restoration of normalcy in close coordination with I security forces.
On Thursday, the district administration provided assistances to relief camps run by various philan-thropic organisations by providing rice and other items.
Curfew was relaxed for nine hours from 6 am to 3 pm for the third consecu-tive day.
On other hand, our Kangpokpi correspondent informed that as many as 1200 displaced persons from Churachandpur dis-trict who were evacuated from lmphal to Kangpokpi were shifted to Churachan-dpur district on Thursday.
Many residents of Chu-rachandpur district were among the thousands of displaced persons evacu-ated to Kangpokpi district since May 5 and had been staying in relief camps opened in the district.
With the initiative of the district administration in collaboration with Kang-pokpi District Relief Com-mittee, Kangpokpi Town Relief Committee, Kang-pokpi Police, Assam Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force the residents of Churachandpur district who were willing to go to their district were shifted on Thursday under ade-quate security cover.
The displaced Chura-chandpur residents includ-ing men, women & chil-dren and a few sick persons gathered at Brig M Thomas Ground as early as 4:30 am but the departure started only around 11:30 am.
Speaking to media per-sons, Kangpokpi District Relief Committee chairman Lunseh Kipgen informed that the transportation of the displaced Chura-chandpur denizens from Kangpokpi was initiated by the district administra-tion in collaboration with the various CSOs, district police, district and local relief committees with the security forces from Assam Rifles and the CRPF.
He said that around 1200 people were transported in 15 vehicles comprising 12 from Kangpokpi town and the rest from the Motbung area.
While conveying grati-tude to the district admin-istration, and district police for initiating such humani-tarian gestures, Kipgen also thanked the Assam Rifles and the CRPF for providing security for safe passage.
The Churachandpur den-izens reportedly reached peace ground safe and sound around 3:30 pm .
