Imphal, May 18 2023:
Expressing concern over the recent civic disturbances in Manipur, many organisations and groups have appealed to all the communities residing in the State to refrain from any form of violence and come together for a peaceful solution.
Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN), Manipur has appealed to all the communities to maintain peace and not succumb to rumours & fake news.
"We the members of KEN, an organisation of the international Manipuri diaspora strongly condemned the acts of violence, buring of houses, and attacks on innocent people including the disgraceful attack on places of worship", said a release issued by KEN.
Appealing to all fellow Manipuris to shun violence and choose the path of peace, KEN said.
"The Manipuri diaspora is equally affected and saddened by the current crisis as we have our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, friends and relatives who are proud inhabitants of the land.
We are traumatised to see the horrific state of our motherland where we all belong to" .
KEN asserted that the burning of houses, religious places, private & public properties, vandalising and looting them will only bring misery and sorrow.
Extending sincere condolence to all the victims of recent violence, KEN urged the State machinery to safeguard the people and their properties.
"Any disagreement should not be a source of discord but an opportunity for innovative ideas to solve the unsolvable", it added.
KEN further appealed to the State Government and Chief Minister N Biren Singh to ensure safety, protection and peace for all the communities in Manipur.
Extending solidarity to the people affected by the recent violence, Celin Digital, Keishamthong Longjam Leirak, has appealed to the people of Manipur to maintain calm and shun violence to restore peace & normalcy in the State.
In a release, Celin Digital also urged all the communities to set aside their differences and come together for a peaceful solution.
