Two vehicle lifters arrested

Thoubal, February 22 2025:
Thoubal police arrested two vehicle lifters and recovered six vehicles.
The arrested persons along with the recovered vehicles were paraded in front of media at the office premises of Thoubal SP on Saturday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Pussam Azamaluddin (28), son of Haji Jameruddin of Lilong Atoukhong, and Makakmayum Nawaz Khan (23), son of (late) Abdul Salam of Lilong Awang Leikai.
Azamaluddin was arrested along with one blue-coloured Honda Activa scooter and one orange-coloured Honda Dio, while Nawaz Khan was arrested with one orange and white KTM motorcycle and black and red Bajaj Pulsar NS.
Police also recovered included one chrome-coloured Royal Enfield motorcycle and one silver Hyundei i20 Asta.
Speaking to media in connection with the arrest and seizure, SP Dr S Ibomcha appealed to the public not to buy vehicles on cheap prices without proper documentation, as it may be stolen and can lead to legal action.
Mentioning that district police was in alert after numerous cases of vehicle theft were reported, he revealed that a Hyundai i20 suspected to be stolen was recovered after the driver abandoned the vehicle at Yairipok Singga and fled, while the Royal Enfield bike was seized from Lilong after its driver ran from the spot.
SP Ibomcha also disclosed that the persons driving the two vehicles have been identified and they will be arrested soon.
Four other vehicles have also been recovered with the accused, who have yet to provide documentation proving their ownership, he added.
The SP also informed that the two arrested person and seized vehicles will be handed over to Yairipok and Lilong police station for further investigations.
