Health, Director visits Moirengthel, holds free medical camp

Imphal, May 18 2025: Health Services director Dr Chambo Gonmei visited Moirengthel village in Tengnoupal district on Saturday and conducted a free medical camp for residents of the remote border area.

Moirengthel, a Maring village located about 140 kilometres from Imphal in Tengnoupal block, lies near the Indo-Myanmar border pillars 88 and 89.Dr Chambo Gonmei, who led a health services team to the village, interacted with locals and oversaw the medical camp, which offered health check villages.

During the visit, village chief Mm Kodarpha Maring submitted a memorandum to the director, highlighting the lack of adequate healthcare infrastructure and the difficulties residents face in accessing medical services during emergencies.

He urged the department to establish a Primary Health Sub-Centre in the village to meet the pressing healthcare needs of the border population.

Senior AYUSH nodal officer Dr K Benedict, PHC Rilram Centre medical officer-in-charge Dr Morung and other medical staff accompanied the team during the visit.
