Poumais mark 'Vedaoyu Niih 2025' in Bengaluru

In a celebration that combined tradition, talent, and testimony, Poumai Naga community in Bengaluru, Karnataka commemorated the 30th Vedaoyu Niih-cum-Raising Day on Tuesday.
As per a release, the programme hosted by Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Bangalore (PNTMB) marked three decades of Poumai spiritual and cultural identity, especially among its growing diaspora in South India.
The function commenced with invocation by father James Chin SJ and blessings from spiritual leaders such as reverend Dr KH Reihe and NSUB president Nungsangmongla Ozukum, followed by address by PNTMB president Dahinii Titus H, who reflected on its 30-year journey.

The inaugural session was attended by Ministry of Home Affairs special invitee and Lt Governor of Delhi's Committee for the North East member Joram Maivio as chief guest and Government of Manipur joint resident commissioner Rajesh AM as guest of honour, while the first Naga woman pilot from Manipur captain Roveinai Paotei and Wells Fargo senior system operations engineer Benjamin Varay were special invitees.
The release also stated that the mid-morning session witnessed a vibrant cultural showcase featuring traditional dances, tribal attire, and fusion art, each performance offering a window into the rich Poumai heritage.
Adding star power to the Occasion were guest artistes Ziikhu Titus and NG Atoznah, who travelled from Senapati to perform exclusively for the community.
The event concluded with Freshers' Got Talent and a glamorous crowning ceremony, honouring the newest members of the community.
After rounds of performance and interviews, Mr Fresher 2025 title was awarded to Hu sou Vemai and runner up to Vadu, both from Phuba Khuman village, Senapati district, while Miss Fresher 2025 title was won by Houlapei Bumai of Chaonamai and runner-up by Vahriine of Phuba Khuman.
