Eminent Kabui artiste Abui Kamei, known for his relentless endeavours for preserving and promoting Kabui traditional dance, music, and drama, passed away on Thursday.
He was 77 .
A statement issued by Fulling Cultural Organisation remembered Abui Kamei as an artistes who played a crucial role in the formation of the organisation.
Born in Keishamthong Kabui Khul, Abui Kamei was deeply passionate about preserving cultural heritages of Kabui.
A dedicated performer and teacher, he made significant contributions to Kabui traditional dance and music.
He also played a pivotal role in organising and performing Kabui Shumang Leela.
Not only in Manipur, Kabui Shumang Leela were also staged in Kabui-inhabited areas of Nagaland and Assam.
Remembered as a multi-faceted personality, Abui Kamei served as a Kabui dance instructor and cultural advocate, inspiring many through his work and dedication.
The organisation described the untimely demise of Abui Kamei as a huge loss and shared the pain of the bereaved family.
