Imphal, July 03 2025:
The state reported six new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, continuing a slight downward trend in daily infections over the past four days.
Imphal West remains the most affected district, contributing five of the six new cases, while Bishnupur accounted for the remaining one.
Since June 16, the state has conducted 969 tests, confirming a total of 275 cases, resulting in a cumulative positivity rate of approximately 28.4 per cent.
Imphal West leads the cumulative case count with 187, followed by Imphal East with 63 and Bishnupur with 11 .
The number of active cases currently stands at 73 with 13 patients discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 202 .
Meanwhile, state health authorities are not disclosing the identities of positive cases to protect patient privacy.
While this measure is necessary, the absence of active contact tracing and lack of timely information among the public continues to pose a risk of silent community transmission.
A resident of a village in Imphal West district told The People's Chronicle that he heard of a positive case in his locality from words of mouth but the local club has no information in this regard.
Without any information of the positive case, the local residents are at the risk of getting infected, he said.
