Army sets up cosmetics centre in Bishnupur

Imphal, February 26 2025:
Indian Army, in collaboration with Pune-based NGO Aseem Foundation, has inaugurated a cosmetic centre at Phubala village, Bishnupur district, under Operation Sadbhavana.
The initiative aims to provide skill development and livelihood opportunities for local women.
According to PRO Defence, the facility was inaugurated by GOC Spear Corps Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, in the presence of senior Indian Army officers, representatives of civil administration, village leaders, and locals.
The centre is equipped with essential materials and training resources to support women in acquiring professional skills and generating income.
Initially, 20 women from the area will receive training and access to markets facilitated by the ASEEM Foundation.
Community representatives, including village pradhan N Ranjit Singh, expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its potential to create new employment opportunities for women.
Following the inauguration, the GOC also visited the Yarn Bank at Tronglaobi, another joint initiative of the Indian Army and ASEEM Foundation, which has been providing sustainable livelihoods for women in the region.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to promote economic self-reliance and skill development among local communities, said the PRO .
