Imphal, July 17 2025:
Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, has announced the launch of a Village Level Voluntary Survey (VLVS) aimed at assessing the status of infrastructure and development across tribal villages in Manipur.
The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the TYCM Central Executive Council (CEC) held on Thursday.
The survey seeks to determine the extent to which government schemes and infrastructure initiatives have reached tribal areas, with a view to identifying developmental gaps and needs, TYCM said in a press release.
According to the Council, the VLVS will encompass data collection across 30 departments of the Government of Manipur, including Agriculture, Education, Health, Public Works, Rural Development, Power, Social Welfare, Tribal Affairs, and Information Technology, among others.
The collected data will offer insight into sectoral development at the grassroots level and help chalk up more effective policy and planning.
Each participating village will complete a standardised survey format, which must be duly verified and endorsed by the village headman, chairman, 'khunbu', 'pei', or chief.
Completed forms are to be submitted either to the TYCM headquarters in Imphal or to the designated district VLVS coordinator.
TYCM will compile and formally submit the findings to the state government, with the objective of placing the data on official record.
This will facilitate appropriate government action to address the identified gaps in development, it added.
To this end, the Council has appealed for cooperation from all tribal village authorities and community-based organisations (CSOs), urging their full support to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the survey.
