Imphal, May 16 2025:
Former Moirang MLA M Prithviraj met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday, urging swift action on several pressing issues facing the state, including the condition of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and national highway security.
During the meeting, Prithviraj highlighted the plight of IDPs who have been living in relief camps for over two years.
He called on the Governor to apprise the central government to ensure adequate compensation for their losses, including damage to businesses, livelihoods, and properties.
He also stressed the need to ensure safety and uninterrupted movement along the national highways in Manipur sector, recommending that these routes be declared "disturbed-free zones" to prevent disruption and maintain critical supply lines.
To foster long-term peace in the state, the former legislator proposed initiating dialogue with the involvement of a neutral third party.
He suggested including Muslim academics and members of the intelligentsia as mediators in any peace-building efforts.
