RSS Pracharaks are 'plain-clothed Sanyasis': Swami Mitrananda

Imphal, July 30 2026: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharaks are "plain-clothed Sanyasis" who have made significant sacrifices, and their commitment to protecting the Nation and society is exceptional and unmatched by others, said Acharya Swami Mitrananda, head of Chinmaya Mission, Chennai and Northeast Bharat.

Swami Mitrananda made the remarks during an interaction with RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad karyakartas at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjeng Leikai, here on Thursday.

Describing the dedication of RSS pracharaks, he said, "One RSS karyakarta is equal to ten Chinmaya workers," while praising their commitment and contribution to Nation-building.

He also acknowledged the significant role played by the RSS in protecting and strengthening the Nation.

Swami Mitrananda highlighted the importance of selfless service and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.

He said, "Service to the Nation is the service to the Lord of the Lords, and devotion to the people is the devotion to the Supreme Lord" .

Leading the 28-member Chinmaya Amrit Yatra 2026 team, Swami Mitrananda reached Imphal on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima on July 29 .

On arrival in Manipur, the team performed Bhoomi Puja at Thamnapokpi, Moirang, Bishnupur district, for the proposed Chinmaya Mission Sainik School for Girls, envisioned as the first such school in the North East under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The State Government allotted land for the project in 2023 .

The team also visited the historic Kangla Fort and interacted with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at his official residence over breakfast.

The Chinmaya Amrit Yatra, which began from Pune on December 31, 2025, has so far covered 16 States.

The 300-day yatra aims to cover all 28 States of Bharat, besides Nepal and Sri Lanka, and will conclude at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on October 23, 2026, with the inauguration of the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav.

M Asnikumar Singh, Trustee, Chinmaya Mission Trust, Manipur, said the Bhoomi Puja marked the beginning of a long-cherished dream first discussed during Swami Mitrananda's visit to Moirang in August 2018 .

The team will leave Imphal on July 31 for Agartala.
