Senapati, March 30 2026: Condemning the killing of four Naga Army personnel at Hongbei village in Ukhrul on March 28, the United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women's Union (NWU) and Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) have raised a call for peace, restraint and justice.

UNC

Stating that the heinous act of fratricidal killings sent shockwaves across the Naga community, UNC has demanded the Government of People's Republic of Nagaland (GPRN) to clarify the circumstances leading to the tragic incident and take immediate action against the persons involved.

It has also appealed to the authorities to ensure that justice is served swiftly by initiating a thorough investigation and issuing a clarification on the cause of the incident as well as initiating stern action against the perpetrators.

The Council further quoted a striking maxim from eminent Tangkhul Naga leader R Suisa who said: "The Nagas are politically obtuse.

They do not understand the right thing at the right time.

They are not united at the right time for the right cause.

If such situations prevail in the Naga Land, the Nagas will fight amongst themselves to finish themselves"- as a reminder to all people to stand together in the right perspective as one people, to secure their future.

The UNC urged all sections of society to shun violence, maintain restraint, peace and harmony, and work towards healing and reconciliation.

ANSAM

Issuing an appeal for peace, ANSAM has asserted with unwavering clarity that no cause, however conceived, can justify the spilling of kindred blood.

Urging the competent authorities to undertake an immediate and transparent inquiry, ANSAM has called upon every section of Naga society, leaders, civil bodies, youth and all concerned to exercise utmost restraint and to reject the path of retaliation, provocation, and discord.

The strength of a people is not measured by their capacity for vengeance, but by their ability to uphold peace even in the face of provocation, the student body remarked.

In a call for unity, ANSAM has urged the Naga community to stand together not as a fractured Nation, but as one people bound by shared history, shared struggles, and a shared hope.

"When brethren descend into fratricidal strife unto death, it is the outsider who inherits our patrimony.

In peace lies our future," ANSAM stated.

NWU

The NWU has paid tribute to the four fallen Naga soldiers- Major Sochipem Phungshok, Sergeant Major Zairay Vasah, Sergeant Bahnle Ahlapya and Sergeant Thansomi Washi (posthumous honors) .

Expressing grief and discontentment over the deaths, NWU called for recognition of the sacrifices made by the four Naga brothers and a swift resolution of the incident.

NWU called upon those responsible for the killings to come forward with honesty and courage, for the good of individuals and the Naga community as a whole.

Demanding justice and accountability from those responsible, NWU has appealed for peace urging no Naga to rise against another.

MNYO

With a similar appeal to all concerned to exercise utmost restraint, wisdom, and responsible leadership, MNYO has demanded an impartial, transparent and credible process of accountability to restore trust and prevent further misunderstanding.

It has urged all concerned groups and individuals to rise above their differences and resolve their issues through dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful means.

"This is a defining moment that calls for unity, not division; for reconciliation, not confrontation", it asserted.

UNC, ANSAM, NWU, MNYO and Liangmai Naga Council have also extended their deepest condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for stregth, healing and peace.
