The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) Manipur has proposed allowing pre-arrival Protected Area Permit (PAP) applications at the time of visa processing in the traveller's home country.
H Radhakrishna Sharma, State-in-Charge, IATO Manipur, along with four others, called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan today.
They submitted a representation regarding challenges faced by tour operators in obtaining Protected Area Permits (PAP) for foreign tourists visiting Manipur, said a press release issued by the Governor's Secretariat.
To facilitate smoother travel and strengthen tourism in the State, the association proposed allowing pre-arrival PAP applications at the time of visa processing in the traveller's home country and authorising approved tour operators and IATO members to apply for permits on behalf of their clients.
The Governor took note of the concerns and appreciated the association's effort towards promoting sustainable tourism in Manipur.
Gursharan Singh, Head of Project, NHPC Ltd, recently appointed as General Manager (Electrical), too called on the Governor today.
He briefed the Governor on various operational challenges faced by the Loktak Hydroelectric Project, including transportation difficulties for large equipment required for renovation works.
He also highlighted ongoing initiatives to improve maintenance practices and strengthen operational reliability of the project.
The Governor took note of the issues and emphasized the importance of timely renovation to enhance the efficiency of the project.
