Full dress rehearsal conducted ahead of R-Day

As in other places, a full dress rehearsal for the 77th Republic Day (January 26) was conducted, here, today.
Altogether 62 contingents participated in the parade, including ex-servicemen, uniformed forces, NCC cadets, school and college students, and band parties among others.
In addition, 14 cultural troupes from different communities also took part in the rehearsal.
The parade was commanded by Ningthoujam Madhunimai, the Commanding Officer of the 8th Battalion of Manipur Rifles.
The parade, which began from the 1st MR parade ground around 7.30 am, proceeded through Jail Road, New Lambulane, Nityaipat Chuthek, Kanglapat stretch, North AOC, and entered the Kangla Fort through its northern gate.

The contingents then saluted at the decorated saluting base inside Kangla Fort before exiting through the southern gate.
The procession continued toward the Post Office crossing and culminated at the 1st MR parade ground, where a vote of thanks was delivered to all participants.
DGP Rajiv Singh received the general salute from the Guard of Honour, commanded by Abhijeet Pandey (IPS Probationer) .
On Republic Day, 14 security personnel of various ranks will be awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service (Republic Day 2025), the Medal for Meritorious Service (Republic Day 2025), and the Medal for Meritorious Service (Independence Day 2025) .
All ceremonial activities, including the parade inspection, band performances, mass drills, and cultural programs, were rehearsed to ensure smooth coordination and flawless execution on Republic Day.
Senior police and Army officials were present to supervise the rehearsal and review the overall arrangements.
Security has been tightened too.
