Clubs resolve to boycott MLA

Imphal, January 22 2026: A public meeting organised by Friends Union Club and Khurai Konsam Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup has resolved to boycott Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro who has been implicated in the dismantling of two under-construction classrooms at Khurai Heikrumakhong Junior High School on January 18 .

The MLA has been boycotted in all areas under the jurisdiction of Friends Union Club and locals of the area/leikai have been prohibited from engaging in any activities/works related to the legislator.

Speaking to media persons today at Khurai Heikrumakhong Junior High School ground, Khurai Heikrumakhong Yaifa Thouram Nupi Lup general secretary Waikhom Ashalata informed that the public meeting was held on January 20 .

She also shared the remaining resolutions passed at the gathering, which include, ensuring that the Education Department and those involved in the dismantling of the school building rebuild the classroom infrastructure promptly and collective agreement on any developmental initiative at the school in the future.

Commenting on the January 18 incident, she said it was not just an act of knocking down the building but an attempt on the lives of the workers who were actively engaged in construction work at the time.

She also strongly condemned the incident.
