Imphal, November 15 2025:
Former UNLF leader RK Meghen has warned that the Lei Ingkhol issue could escalate into a major crisis from a minor spark if the Government fails to address the problem and prevent the displacement of villagers.
Residents of Lei Ingkhol claimed that the Government has been attempting to evict them from the area to facilitate the expansion of Manipur High Court complex.
Speaking on the sidelines of a protest demonstration held at Lei Ingkhol Community Hall, Meghen urged the Government to act justly and address the grievances of Lei Ingkhol residents.
He further stated that the residents of Lei Ingkhol have been living in the area for nearly 80 years, having settled there initially due to a disease outbreak.
Meghen emphasized that evicting the residents would be unjust and urged the Government to respect their rights.
He emphasized that the Government should not disregard or belittle the residents.
Stating that the Government should prioritize the welfare of the people, Meghen warned that the Lei Ingkhol issue could escalate into a major crisis if the Government fails to understand the sentiment of the people.
