Cleanliness drives conducted at JNIMS, Kekrupat

A large-scale cleanliness drive was successfully conducted on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) campus, Imphal, in response to the recent flood that severely affected the area.
As per a release issued by NSS Cell, Manipur University, the cleanliness drive was organised under the supervision of Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University.
The initiative was spearheaded by the NSS Cell, Manipur University under the dynamic leadership of Programme Coordinator, Dr L Santosh Singh.
The proactive effort aimed not only to restore cleanliness and hygiene in the flood-affected JNIMS campus but also to promote values of community service and youth engagement.
Over 100 NSS volunteers from various units under the NSS Cell, Manipur University, actively participated in the extensive cleaning operation.
The initiative focused on beautification, waste management, and fostering moral discipline among the youth, encouraging a sense of responsibility and civic engagement.
Speaking at the culmination of the event, Dr L Santosh Singh extended heartfelt appreciation to all the dedicated volunteers for their enthusiastic participation and seamless coordination.
He also acknowledged the invaluable support provided by the JNIMS authorities, including the Director, Deputy Director, Head of the Department of Dental College, and Facility Manager.
The initiative served not only as a response to a natural disaster but also as a symbol of youth-led community service and volunteerism, which are key components in the holistic development of individuals and the broader social fabric.
Meanwhile, ahead of the observation of 'The Great June Uprising, Unity Day-2025', the International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) along with its 14 affiliated organisations conducted a cleanliness drive at Kekrupat today.
Members of IPSA, PANDAM, ACOAM Lup, ERDO, ANDOK, IPAK.
KILL, MIKL, CLK, SWA, KANGLAMEI, KSA, LOYALUP and AKSHIL participated in the drive.
Notably, 'The Great June Uprising, Unity Day' is observed every year on June 18 in honour of all the martyrs who laid down their lives during the people's movement in June, 2001 .
