Senapati, October 13 2025:
The office of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) at Senapati was locked by the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) on Monday over non maintenance of the stretch of highway from Mao Gate to the district headquarters.
The NHIDCL office was shut and locked due to negligence of the company which has failed to maintain the vital highway, said the student body.
Almost all portions of the highway are brqken.
The entire stretch is filled with potholes and some portions were hit by landslides.
The condition of the road is the worst between Karong and Senapati Bazar, said the SDSA.

It may be mentioned that the student body had held a meeting with officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) at its office early this year.
During the meeting, the two sides had agreed that maintenance work would be taken up in two phases, and the Maram-Mao section would be completed within the month of April.
While the NHIDCL then had also agreed to repair damaged drainage systems, it was cautioned that its various works in the district would be "stopped" if the deadline set is not met, said the SDSA .
Unless the NHIDCL and relevant authorities begin the maintenance work, the company's office will not be allowed to function, said the SDSA.
Further negligence will force the SDSA to launch intense agitation, it said.
