Imphal, September 13 2025:
Many people who attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public rally at Kangla today were left utterly disappointed as the Prime Minister did not say anything concrete on restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur which has been witnessing a widespread violent crisis since May 3, 2023.As people came out through the Kangla western gate after the event, media persons asked how they felt about the Prime Minister's speech.
Many people said that they came with high expectations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will do or say something substantial towards restoring peace and normalcy in the trouble-torn State.
It is rather disappointing that the Prime Minister only spoke about the development projects taken up by the Government but not a single word on the suffering of IDPs who have been living in relief camps under wretched conditions for over two years, they said.
"We came with high hopes that Narendra Modi will announce some concrete.
steps to bring peace, and normalcy in the State, but all our hopes have been shattered", some others said.
It is quite unfortunate that the Prime Minister did not say a single word on working out a solution to the protracted crisis.
The Prime Minister's speech was rather disappointing as it did not mention anything about ensuring free movement on National Highways, some opined.
They said that the Meitei people are literally kept under siege by restricting their movement on National Highways for over two years.
Nor did the Prime Minister say anything concrete about the IDPs .
